What did I do wrong and is it my fault?

Unfortunately, this young lady views your comments as being extremely prejudiced. She was attempting to appease your quest for information in a very gracious and diplomatic manner. However, you put her in a very uncomfortable situation. You in essence told her that although not all Muslims are terrorists that all terrorists are Muslims which cast a very derogatory shadow on people of her culture. You apparently made her feel as though there are no other terrorists in the world other than people of her culture which was like slapping her in the face. I believe your questions, although profound, came on too strong. Diplomacy was lacking in how you handled this situation. I do, however, feel your weeks suspension was a bit severe as well.
