How do you feel about African-American hair?

To start off, I myself am an African-American woman. I notice that the majority of us use relaxers for our hair. Personally, I like relaxers. Especially since I'm Muslim and wearing my natural hair causes my hijab to look really weird on me. I remember trying to go natural, and when I wore my hijab I ended up looking like mega mind! It was NOT pretty. Despite all that, sometimes I just wish I could roam about freely with my natural hair with no issues. I get tired of trying not to get my hair wet, and getting perms. Why is it that Caucasion women, Hispanic women, Asian women etc. all get to just wear their hair naturally, but with us there's so much negativity and so many issues? I know I'm not the only one who feels this way. Let me know what you think. How do you feel about African-American hair. This is a question for all races by the way.
