Is Menorca, Spain a safe vacation for Muslims?

It's particularly more concerning since we heard of that crazy extremist Christian man who decapitated a woman in another island in Spain. We're Egyptian Muslims and we have a villa in Menorca and we just recently decided to start actually spending some time there in the Summer. I'm asking this question because last time we went, which was last Summer, people weren't that friendly, especially at the airport. The security there would give us weird looks and would pay more attention to our family than the other passengers. The shop keepers in the actual island were VERY friendly but most people in Mahon for example would give my mom, who wears the hijab dirty looks but they wouldn't look at my sister who wasn't wearing the hijab at all. Don't get me wrong, some people were very friendly, but unfortunately most were not and it was probably the only drawback in our vacation last summer. Thank you in advance for answering! :)
