Muslim girls: What is the punishment of not wearing an hijab?

I know you get hunged by your hair, but for how long? And when do you think i should start wearing an hijab, (I'm 13 right now) I was thinking of wearing it after college, and wearing it for the rest of my life. Is it a good idea?
